House Hunting

House Hunting 957

As most of the limited viewers of this site will know, we have decided to downsize. Our house is now on the market ( http://www.homesandproperty.co.uk/sale/wales/swansea/clydach/5-bedroom-detached-house-sale/16895-4849684.html ) – maybe not a good time of the year, but fortunately we are not in any great hurry to move. However, we have been looking around to see what the market has to offer. One of the main difficulties is that we have been spoiled by the supreme build quality of Clews Homes. Alan Clews won the Best Small Development in Great Britain Award for Golwg Y Lon, and I am not surprised having lived in this house for a couple of years now. But it does mean that properties we are looking at by comparison look decidedly poor. Here are a couple of shots of one of the more interesting options. It looks good in the photos – not so good in reality. I urgently need to win the lottery and get Alan Clews to build us sometime special!

Ooh, I didn’t know you were thinking of downsizing. My mum and her husband are too – must be something in the air. Are you going to be staying around the Clydach area?
This house here looks very funky – I wonder how the floaty kitchen table works? I think I spy an open fire too (?) but I suspect it would be very cold in winter with all those tiles and floor boards.
At least if you’re in no hurry you have plenty of time to look around – house hunting is never nice when you’re under pressure!

    Hi Alex,

We are not really in any hurry to sell, especially with the market as it is at the moment. In fact we may even take it off the market as we are not very happy with the Estate agents at the moment.

The other house was very “funky” – under-floor heating. But the build quality was poor. It may have been ideal photographically – but a bit like living in a minimalist igloo!

Can we come and live with you? It’s bloody freezing here, and constantly raining.

Ah yes, the minimalist design. Looks great in the picture but just not very practical.
You would both be very welcome here, Gwen too. The weather is still being a bit ditzy but after torrential rain and gales last night it was hot again today. I went for another swim in the sea – the delights of being “between jobs” :-) Just wish I could afford to stay unemployed all summer!
